Sundials can be made in a great variety of styles for any location receiving direct sunlight.

As all my dials are individually designed every dial can be the right size and shape for its location and set out for its exact latitude and longitude.

Most of the dials I make cost between £1,000 and £3,000 depending on size, material and complexity. Some very large and complicated dials cost more.

Please write, telephone or email me via the contacts page if you wish to discuss any ideas you have for your sundial.

Vertical dials are most often seen mounted on walls but they can also be made for plinths and as free standing dials. Vertical dials must be made for the exact direction they will face. This can be any direction, not just south. These dials can be read from a distance.

Horizontal dials are often mounted on plinths. They show all the hours of daytime and are easily set up. Horizontal dials can also be set on low walls and window sills or made as tables and birdbaths. Some dials can be adjusted and moved to new sites.
Polar dials are quite rare and along with equatorial dials have diagonal sloping faces. One dial has its face aligned with the Earth's poles and the other to the Earth's equator. These are interesting dials and their faces can be seen from a distance almost as clearly as a vertical dial.
Analemmatic dials are often constructed as a large ellipse of separate hour stones laid flat in the ground. The viewer stands on a central stone and his own shadow shows the time. Smaller versions, with a movable gnomon, can be carved from a single piece of stone to make a dial for a plinth or table top.
There are many other forms of sundial and countless combinations and variations.
